Bainbridge, New York
Bainbridge is a town in Chenango County, New York. The area is considered part of the Southern Tier region. The Susquehanna River, the major river of the eastern US, runs through the town. The town is named in honor of William Bainbridge, a Commodore in the United States Navy.
Within the town, is a village also named Bainbridge. The village is in the center of the town and the main population area of the town. The village has its own small police force. The village used to have a village court but it was folded into the town court. Now the town court retains jurisdiction over village matters as well.
