Boylston is a rural town in Oswego County, New York. It is part of the Central New York region. More specifically, it is considered part of the Tug Hill region. This region refers to the area between the Adirondack Mountains to the east and Lake Ontario to the west. Boylston is approximately fifty miles north of Syracuse and approximately thirty miles south of Watertown. , the town population was estimated at 575. The town was established in 1828 and named after the first landowner of the area.

CR-17 meets CR-15 in Greenboro. The remaining town area is rural and consists of long stretches of one lane local roads. Boylston does not have a police department to conduct traffic patrols. That responsibility is given to the New York State Police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. They issue citations for common violations such as Unlicensed Driver, Speeding, No Inspection, and Uninsured Vehicle. The Boylston Town Court serves as the local justice court. The court is located in the Town Hall building at the intersection of County Route 50 and County Route 13. The court has a low volume of cases and is only in session once a month. Any traffic ticket issued in Boylston will be adjudicated in this court.
