Clarkson is a town in Monroe County, New York. It is around twenty miles west of Downtown Rochester and around ten miles south of the Lake Ontario shore. The area is known as the Finger Lakes region. As of June of 2022, the town population was 6,800. The town was established in 1819 and named after Matthew Clarkson, a Colonial era General and politician who served in the Revolutionary War under Benedict Arnold. The town encompasses several hamlets and a small portion of a village named Brockport. The hamlets are Clarkson Corners, Garland, Morton and Redman Corners.
