Cuba is a town in Allegany County, New York. With a population of more than 3200, Cuba is one of larger towns in Allegany County. The town’s area is known as the Southern Tier region. The Town of Cuba includes a Village of Cuba, which is the main population area of the town. Contrary to popular belief, the town is not named after the Country of Cuba. Rather, it was taken from Roman mythology and means “protector of the young”. Cuba is known for its dairies and cheese industry. The town has a large man-made lake that is used for water recreation.
