Dobbs Ferry is a village in Westchester County, New York. It is within the town of Greenburgh. The village is roughly twenty-five miles north of Midtown Manhattan. As of February of 2022, the population was 12,127. Dobbs Ferry was incorporated in 1873 as Greenburgh, however the name was changed later on in 1882. The village is named after Jeremiah Dobbs, owner of a ferry service that crossed the Hudson River. Dobbs’ ferry service played a vital role during the American Revolutionary War, providing passage across the river and acting as a defensive position on the east side of the Hudson.
