Gardiner is a town in Ulster County, New York. It is located at the eastern edge of the Catskills Mountains, approximately ten miles west of the Hudson River, and approximately 90 miles north of New York City. The closest city is Newburgh, around fifteen miles southeast of the town. Gardiner is considered part of the Hudson Valley Region. The town was established in the 1850’s and named after Lieutenant Governor Addison Gardiner. The hamlets in Gardiner are Benton Corners, Forest Glen, Ganahgot, Ireland Corners, Jenkinstown, Libertyville, Rutsonville, Tuthill, and Wallkill Camp., the town population was estimated at 5,500.
