Haverstraw is a town in Rockland County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles north of Midtown Manhattan and is considered a New York City suburb. The town has two villages, Haverstraw (same name) and West Haverstraw. The village of Haverstraw is on the eastern side of the town and abuts the Hudson River. The village serves as the town’s downtown and main business area. The village of West Haverstraw is situated northwest of the village of Haverstraw. There is also the Village of Pomona, which is partially in Haverstraw and partially in Ramapo. The town also encompasses the hamlets of Garnerville, Johnsontown, Ladentown, Mount Ivy, Samsondale, Thiells, and Willow Grove., the total town population was estimated at 39,000.
