Traffic Tickets in Lenox and Canastota
Lenox has a justice court that adjudicates certain types of legal cases including all non-felony traffic violations. Canastota also has a village court that handles the same type of cases. The Canastota Village Court has jurisdiction over cases from within the village and the Lenox Town Court has jurisdiction over cases from the town excluding the village. The village court does not have a substantial calendar and it is operated jointly with the town court. This means both the town and village court are in the same building and share the same court personnel with the exception of the court Justices. The Lenox Town Court is a busy court because of the I-90 (New York State Thruway) that crosses through the northern part of the town. New York State Police patrol the area and frequently stop motorists for speeding. The busy local roads are north-south NYS-13 and east-west NYS-5 (Seneca Turnpike).
