Maryland is a town in Otsego County, New York. It is located approximately sixty miles southeast of Albany. The Town of Maryland, like the county, is mostly rural., the town population was estimated at 1,700. The main population area is the hamlet of Schenevus (pronounced skuh-knee-vuss). It is also where the town court is located.

Interstate 88 (I-88) runs between the cities of Albany and Binghamton. The I-88 is a relatively new interstate highway, having been completed in 1989. It is officially named the “Senator Warren M. A large portion of the I-88 runs through the jurisdiction of the town of Maryland. All traffic violations on this stretch of highway are adjudicated in the Town of Maryland Justice Court (Maryland Town Court).
