Middletown is a city in Orange County, New York. It is part of the Hudson Valley region. The city's population, as of October of 2022, was 30,629. Middletown covers a little more than five square miles. It is about seventy-six miles northwest of New York City. Middletown was first incorporated as a village in 1848. In 1888 it became a city. The city's growth was stimulated by the construction of the Erie Railroad, which let factories import and export materials and goods.
