Oneonta (pronounced: OH-nee-ON-tə) is a city and town in Otsego County, New York. The town is larger and surrounds the city, while the city is more populated. As of July of 2020, there was 13,357 people living in the city and 5,267 living in the town. Students from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College form a large portion of the city population.Oneonta is located roughly halfway between the cities of Albany and Binghamton.
