Oxford is the name of a village in Chenango County, New York. It is located approximately thirty miles northeast of the City of Binghamton. The village is within the town of Oxford and is its main population area. , the village had an estimated 1,200 residents. The busiest road in the village is New York State Route 12 (NYS-12). It runs north-south in the village, bringing motorists between the cities of Binghamton and Hornell. Through the village it is called North Canal Street and South Canal Street. As Route 12 enters the village the speed limit is reduced from 55 mph to 40 mph.
