Pittsfield is a town in Otsego County, New York. It is around 100 miles southwest of Albany, around 60 miles northeast of Binghamton, and around 70 miles southeast of Syracuse. , the population of Pittsfield was estimated at 1,300. The area was settled around 1793. In 1797 it was established as a township and named after Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The town makes up thirty-eight square miles. It consists of three hamlets known as Pittsfield Centre, Silver Lake, and Hoboken. The latter was named so because of workers that migrated to Pittsfield from Hoboken, New Jersey.
