Southport is a town in Chemung County, New York. It is considered part of the Elmira Metropolitan area and New York’s Southern Tier region. Southport rests on the New York - Pennsylvania state line., Southport’s population was approximately 10,200. The town covers approximately forty-seven square miles. Southport was formed in 1822. The town encompasses several hamlets known as Pine City, Southport (also considered a suburb of the neighboring Town of Elmira) and Webb Mills.

Most of Elmira’s west and south rural areas are served by smaller local roads leading to NYS-328.
