St. Lawrence is a county in upstate New York State. It is considered part of the North Country region. St. Lawrence is the largest county by size in New York State, making up 2,821 square miles. Most of the county is uninhabited forestland of the Adirondack State Park. The county is named after the St. Lawrence River, which runs along the entire county line. This highway is used by Canadian visitors crossing over from Cornwall. New York State Route 3 (NYS-3) is the last highway worth mentioning. It heads east and west, zigzagging around the lakes found in the county’s southern area. Taking this road west will eventually bring you to Watertown and the I-81. Heading east will bring you to Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, and eventually Interstate 87.
