Stockport is a town in Columbia County, New York. The Hudson River serves as the western town line. Stockport is approximately twenty-seven miles south of the state capital, Albany. The town covers roughly thirteen square miles and has a population of around 2,960 (). Stockport was settled around 1657 and formed in 1833 from parts of several other towns in the county. The town encompasses four hamlets known as Columbiaville, Rossman, Stockport, and Stottville. The latter is the largest residential area.
