Tompkins County, New York
Tompkins County is a county in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. It is bordered by Cortland County in the east, Cayuga County in the north, Schuyler County to the west, and Tioga County in the South. Tompkins County has nine towns and one city. Its one city is Ithaca. It is located in the middle of the county and is the location of all county legislative and county government buildings. The county was formed in 1817 and named in honor of Daniel D. Tompkins, the fifth governor of New York., the county population was approximately 105,000.
