Tyre (pronounced “tire”) is a town in Seneca County, New York. It is located approximately forty miles west of Syracuse and is considered part of the Finger Lakes region., Tyre’s population was estimated at 1,000. The hamlets in Tyre are Evans Corner, Mays Point, Munsons Corner, and Tyre. The town of Tyre encompasses the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, which protects part of the Montezuma Swamp at the north end of Cayuga Lake. The town makes up thirty-three square miles and at least half is the wildlife refuge.

CR-101 cuts through the center of town, and NYS-89 runs north-south through the Wildlife Refuge.
