Traffic Tickets in Alma, New York
Alma is primarily made up of small local roads with the exception of the north-west corner and south part of town. For a brief moment, New York State Route 417 (Bolivar Road) cuts through the north-west corner of town. This road leads motorists to the neighboring Village of Bolivar to the west, and Village of Wellsville to the north-east. The south part of town is served by the east-west bound County Route 18/38 and County Route 29 (Stone Dam Road).
Alma is one of many New York and Pennsylvania border towns. Several roads cross the state line. As motorists enter New York from Pennsylvania they should pay attention to their speed. This is because Pennsylvanian roads on average have a higher speed limit than New York roads. Crossing state lines means motorists must adhere to the differences in traffic law. To enforce these rules, such as the reduced speed limit, the authorities set up speed traps along the state line. This occurs on Eleven Mile Road, Dulton Hollow Road and Pump Station Road.
Traffic tickets in Alma are adjudicated in the Town of Alma Justice Court. The court is located in the Hamlet of Allentown. Traffic citations can be issued by county sheriffs or state troopers.
