Belmont is a village in Allegany County, New York. It is within the town of Amity. The area is known as the Southern Tier region and is approximately twenty miles north of the Pennsylvania State line. The closest metropolitan area is the small city of Hornell. Buffalo is roughly eighty miles northwest and Rochester is roughly eighty miles northeast. The village has a total area of one square mile and is split by the Genesee River.
