Bridgewater is a town in Oneida County, New York. It is seventeen miles south of the City of Utica. Oneida County is considered part of the Central New York region. As of June of 2022, the population of Bridgewater was 1,560. It covers roughly twenty-five square miles. Several hamlets make up the town. They are Babcock Hill, Hobin Corners, Mapledale, North Bridgewater, and Bridgewater. The latter was formerly a village. In 2014, village residents voted to disband and join the town. This was done for fiscal considerations.
