Buchanan is a village in Westchester County, New York. It is within the Town of Cortlandt.. The village area covers two square miles. It is roughly fifty miles north of Manhattan. As of February of 2022, the population was 2,820. Buchanan is home to the now decommissioned Indian Point Energy Center. The I.P.E.C was a three-unit nuclear power plant station that generated about 25% of New York City’s electrical power while it was operational.
