Greig is a town in Lewis County, New York. The town covers approximately ninety four square miles and is part of the Adirondack Park. The City of Rome is around thirty miles south. The City of Watertown is around forty miles northwest. Greig was established in 1828 under the name “Brantingham”. In 1832 the town received its current name. It was named after John Greig, a politician from the mid 1800’s. The town encompasses the hamlets of Brantingham, Glenfield, Greig, and Otter Creek. , the town population was estimated at 1,100.
