Traffic Tickets in Harrison

The Harrison Town Court has the highest volume of cases in Westchester County and is one of the highest volume courts in New York State. This is due to the many highways that cross through its jurisdiction.

Interstate 95 (I-95) is one of the busiest highways in the United States as it runs along the entire east coast. Part of the I-95 cuts though the southeastern corner of the town. The speed limit in Harrison is 55 mph. This is lower than the usual speed limit of 65 MPH. The I-95 in Harrison is patrolled by Troop T of the New York State Police. Interstate 287 (“Cross Westchester Expressway”) is a busy Westchester County highway. It starts in the east in Rye, crosses the entire Westchester County, then goes into Orange County via the Tappan Zee Bridge, and continues into Rockland County, before turning south into New Jersey. The I-287 crosses east-west in the center of Harrison. Here too the speed limit is 55 mph and enforced heavily by state troopers.

Another busy highway is the Hutchinson River Parkway. It originates south off the Whitestone Bridge in The Bronx. The parkway continues northward into Westchester County. In Harrison, it splits into two highways. One fork goes in a northeast direction as the New York State 15 (NYS-15) and maintains the name Hutchinson River Parkway. It continues into Connecticut. The other fork continues northwest and becomes the I-684. It continues north through Putnam County until it terminates at the I-84 in Brewster. Here, as well, the speed limit does not exceed 55 mph. On the Hutchinson, most traffic stops are conducted by officers of the Westchester County Police.

The Harrison Justice Court also handles traffic citations issued on local town roads. Of note are New York State Route 120, New York State Route 120A, New York State Route 127, Mamaroneck Avenue, and Westchester Avenue. On local streets most traffic patrols are conducted by offices of the Harrison Police Department. They issue tickets for various violations including speeding.
