Nelsonville is a small village in Putnam County, New York. It sits a few miles off the eastern bank of the Hudson River, approximately sixty miles north of Midtown Manhattan. The village is within the Town of Philipstown., the village population was estimated at 600. Nelsonville covers one square mile and is just east of the Village of Cold Spring. Nelsonville was incorporated in 1855 and named after the Nelson family, who were early settlers.
