Traffic Tickets in North Salem, New York

The North Salem Town Court adjudicates all traffic violations issued in the town’s jurisdiction. Traffic stops are conducted by “Troop K” of the New York State Police and the Westchester County Sheriff’s Department. Most citations in North Salem come from the I-684 that runs north-south along the town’s western boundary. This highway is three lanes in each direction with a 65-mph speed limit. Motorists traveling on I-684 are often cited for speeding. The New York State Police monitor the highway and leave the local town roads to the County Sheriffs.

One of the main town roads is New York State Route 116 (Titicus Road). It runs east-west through town and continues past both boundaries. NYS-116 leads motorists through Purdys, Salem Center and North Salem. It also runs along the north edge of the Titicus Reservoir, a popular fishing spot that offers both warm and cold water fish species, such as Largemouth Bass, Trout, and Carp.

County Route 138 (Hardscrabble Road) is notorious for its speed traps. It is an east-west bound road that serves the town’s north-west area. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour and it is strictly enforced. For this reason, many locals avoid using this road.
