Pawling is the name of a town in Dutchess County, New York. It is considered part of New York’s Hudson Valley region. As of March of 2022, the town’s population was 8,685. Pawling covers exactly forty-five square miles. The town was formed in 1788 and named after Catherine Pauling. She was the daughter of Henry Beekman, owner of the second largest land patent in Dutchess County. Inside the town there is a village and several hamlets. The village is named Pawling, after the town. The hamlets are: Baker Corner, Holmes, Hurd Corners, Quaker Hill, Shorehaven, West Pawling and Woodinville.
