Saugerties is a village in Ulster County, New York. It is located on the western bank of the Hudson River, approximately fifty miles south of Albany. The area is known as the Hudson Valley region. The village is within the Town of Saugerties., the village population was estimated at 3,800.

Most traffic stops in the village occur on its main roads. Coming from the south, via the Town of Ulster, is US-9W. As it enters the village, it is named Burt Street. The US-9W then turns into Hill Street and continues northwest, concurrent with NYS-32, until it reaches Main Street. At that point, Route 9W turns east onto Main Street and continues eastward until it reaches Malden Avenue. There, the 9W turns northward and leaves town in the direction of Catskill. The other main road in Saugerties is Ulster Avenue. It enters from the west in the center of the village as the concurrent NYS-32/NYS-212 and runs into Main Street. Most traffic stops occur on the aforementioned roads. Common violations cited in the village include Failure to Yield to Pedestrian, Insufficient Turn Signal, and Failure to Turn.
Traffic stops can be conducted by Saugerties Police, New York State Police, or Ulster County Sheriffs. All violations occurring in the village are made answerable to the Saugerties Village Court. This should not be confused with the Saugerties Town Court. The two courts are in different locations and are run independently.
