Two main roads run east and west through town. They are New York State Route 96 (NYS-96) and US Route 20 (US-20). NYS-96 runs through the northern section of town while US-20 runs along the southern town line. Both roads see a substantial amount of traffic. Taking either one east will lead you to the village of Waterloo and then the village of Seneca Falls. Taking NYS-96 west brings you to the nearby New York State Thruway (I-90). Heading west on US-20 brings you through several hamlets and into the neighboring city of Geneva.

The town roads are patrolled by the New York State Police and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department. The village roads are covered by the local Waterloo Village Police. All traffic violations issued in town are made answerable to the Waterloo Town Court (Town of Waterloo Justice Court). Speeding is a common charge issued throughout town. A large volume of speeding tickets are issued near the village boundary. Outside the village, the speed limit fluctuates between 55 and 40 miles per hour. Inside the village it is 30.

There used to be a Waterloo Village Court, which has jurisdiction over all village traffic cases. On April 1, 2023, the court dissolved. All its cases were transferred to Waterloo Town Court or Fayette Town Court.
