Lumberland is a town in Sullivan County, New York. It is located in the southeastern part of the Catskill Mountains, just north of the Pennsylvania State line. The Delaware River forms the boundary between Lumberland and Pennsylvania. Lumberland is approximately 100 miles northwest of New York City. The town encompasses the hamlets of Glen Spey, Handsome Eddy, Knights Eddy, Mongaup, Pond Eddy, and Upper Mongaup. The reason for the name “Eddy'' is unknown., the town population was estimated at 2,300.

It runs north-south in the center of Lumberland passing through the hamlets of Glen Spry and Pond Eddy. Its southern terminus is at Route 97. Taking it north will eventually lead you to the Town of Thompson. Running east-west is County Route 32 (Proctor Road)/County Route 31 (Upper Mongaup Road). Taking this road west brings you to the neighboring town of Highland.
