Sangerfield is a town in Oneida County, New York. It is part of the Central New York region and is located roughly eighteen miles southwest of Utica., the town’s population was estimated at 2,400. Sangerfield consists of several hamlets and one village named Waterville found along the northern town line. The town is named in honor of Jedediah Sanger, an early town settler. Sanger fought in several battles in the Revolutionary War and attained the rank of a 1st Lieutenant. After the war, he settled in New Hampshire and started several businesses. A local fire destroyed everything, and he went bankrupt. Sanger then moved to New York. The area of Sangerfield was an undeveloped frontier. He started all over and eventually became a successful businessperson, judge, and state legislature.

These roads are US-Route 20 (US-20), New York State Route 12 (NYS-12), County Route 6 (Mason Road), and County Route 6A (Beaver Creek Road). US-20 runs east-west through the northern section of town. It passes through the hamlets of Pleasant Valley and Conger Corners before reaching Five Corners. New York State Route 12 runs north–south. After it enters town from the north, it becomes the arterial road of Waterville. It then leaves town heading south and intersects with US-20 in Five Corners. After that, it heads through Stockwell before continuing south until it leaves town. County Route 6 runs from the southwest corner to Five Corners. County Route 6A (CR-6A) runs from the southeast corner of town to Five Corners.
