Waterville is a village in Oneida County, New York. It was named after Waterville, a city in Maine. The village is within two towns,Marshall and Sangerfield. As of July of 2022, Waterville’s population was 1,509. The village covers a total area of about one and a half square miles. The area was first settled in 1792 and became a village in 1808. Waterville’s heyday was in the second half of the 19th century. Farmers in the area advanced technologies in the development of hops. Their hops were shipped worldwide and the village was known as the “Hops Capital of the World”.
