Wayland is a village in Steuben County, New York. It is located approximately fifty miles south of the City of Rochester. Wayland is considered part of the Southern Tier region and the Finger Lakes region. The village is within the Town of Wayland. It is the town’s main population area and the location of most town businesses and offices., the village population was estimated at 1,600.

There are two main roads in the village. New York State Route 63 (NYS-63) runs east-west. As it enters the village it is known as East Naples Street and West Naples Street. Route 63 brings motorists between North Cohocton in the east and Dansville in the west. Running north-south is New York State Route 15 (NYS-15). It brings motorists between the I-86 entrance/exit south of the village and the Town of Springwater in the north. In the village it is known as North Lackawanna Street and South Lackawanna Street. Route 63 and Route 15 intersect in the center of the village.
