Delaware is a town in Sullivan County, New York. It is within the Catskill Mountains and is mostly rural. The Delaware River forms the western border between the town and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The town encompasses several small hamlets. They are Callicoon (not to be confused with the town of the same name), Falls Mills, Hortonville, Kenoza Lake, Kohlertown, Swiss Hill, Lower Beechwood, and Upper Beechrood., the estimated population of the Town of Delaware was 1,500.

One of the main roads in Delaware is the scenic New York State Route 97 (NYS-97). It runs mostly parallel with the Delaware River along the Pennsylvania border. NYS-97 brings motorists from Hancock in the north and Cochecton south of Delaware. The main east-west road is New York State Route 17B. It comes from the south via Bethel and continues northwest, crossing the center of town until its western terminus at the NYS-97. Going north-south along the eastern town line is New York State Route 52. It brings motorists to the Town of Liberty and State Route 17.
